The select committee, to whom was referred the petition of John J. Vanderkemp, general agent of the Holland land company, praying for the passage of an act įto enable Wilhem Willink and others, to purchase and hold certain real estate therein mentioned, REPORT: That the petitioner states in his petition, that in December, 1804, Wilhem Willink and others, citizens of Amsterdam, in the United Netherlands, being, under the provisions of the general alien law of 2d April, 1798, seised in fee simple as joint tenants, of a large tract of land in the state of New-York, sold' and conveyed to Lemuel Chipman and Oliver Phelps, of the county of Ontario, by two several deeds of conveyance, two townships of the said lands situate in the county of Genesee, one of which was known as township number nine, in the third range of townships, containing by estimation, fifteen thousand, five hundred and forty acres of land, and the other was known as township number nine, in the fourth range, containing by estimation, fourteen thousand, five hundred and seventeen acres of land, and at the same time, the said Chipman and Phelps, executed to the said Wilhem Willink and others, two several mortgages, for the purchase money of said townships ; the one for fifteen thousand four hundred and thirty-five dollars seventy-eifht cents, and the other, for fourteen thousand five hundred and sixteen dollars.
